Adult Neuro - LiteGait Application with Guillain Barre Syndrome: Patients Goal “To be able to do things without falling.” Protocols used. Lesley Smith’s goal is not to challenge how you’re already treating Guillain Barre Syndrome but to show “how you can use the LiteGait to facilitate what you’re already doing to make your outcomes even better than what they already are”. She discusses her case with a 63-year-old male patient who was diagnosed with GBS and had a history of myocardial infarctions, chronic back pain, and a left meniscus injury that caused him to ambulate with a cane. The patient presented with dysmetria from heel to shin, significant ataxia, uneven step length, and a debilitating fear of falling. Lesley uses bodyweight support from the LiteGait during treatment to allow for intensive task practice that doesn’t create anxiety for the patient. Lesley concludes the presentation by showing that the patient made significantly greater improvements on days with the LiteGait than on days without it.
