Global gait measures—such as walking speed, step length symmetry, and overall activity levels—are strong predictors of continued improvement following gait training. Clinicians therefore require user-friendly, objective tools that can provide reliable spatiotemporal data without adding burden to therapy delivery. Traditional methods, such as stopwatches or pressure mats, have been limited by their inaccuracy and inefficiency. In contrast, instrumented treadmills combined with gait measurement software allow clinicians to objectively assess and target symmetry, magnitude, and timing of gait parameters in real time, while maximizing practice opportunities through treadmill training.

At the same time, rehabilitation must increasingly address the challenge of dual-task performance, as patients often struggle to manage simultaneous motor and cognitive demands in daily life. Traditional dual-task training (e.g., combining cognitive tasks with simple motor activities) does not fully reflect the complexity of real-world challenges. By integrating spatiotemporal gait analysis with dual-task paradigms—using wearable sensors, instrumented treadmills, and interactive tablet applications—clinicians can provide safe, controlled, and ecologically valid interventions. This technology-enhanced approach enables immediate biofeedback, promotes gait symmetry and efficiency, and more accurately prepares patients for the cognitive-motor demands of everyday environments, particularly those at risk for falls or gait performance deficits.
Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to:

Identify spatiotemporal gait parameters associated with specific patient outcomes.
Explain the importance of various motor components of tasks during DT training implementation
