Teaching and Practice To explore and discuss embedding the Movement Systems Approach into Pediatric Curriculum of the entry level PT and PTA. This session will describe in detail how to use the Movement Systems Approach to establish a PT diagnosis as well as to determine appropriate treatment interventions for the pediatric client regardless of medical diagnosis. This presentation will use lecture and discussion combined with active problem-solving opportunities for participants. Participants will be polled in a pre/post survey regarding teaching DPT and PTA students how to use Movement Systems Approach and Diagnosis to evaluate and devise treatment plans for potential patients. The Scheets and Sahrmann materials will be reviewed, then patient profiles will be exhibited and participants will be encouraged to determine the Movement Systems Approach diagnosis and potential interventions. Additionally, discussion will center around how to embed MSA into the DPT curriculum in coursework related to pediatric cases. This workshop will provide participants with a multi-model learning opportunity on the application/embedding of the movement systems analysis and movement impairment syndromes to entry-level DPT pediatric curriculum. Presenters will use case-based scenarios to engage attendees in classification, examination and evaluation strategies and development of treatment plans through active learning mechanisms. Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to: recognize the categories associated with the Movement Systems Analysis(MSA) and Movement Systems Diagnosis (MSD). categorize case patients’ impairments by the MSA/D categories describe how to embed the MSA/D concepts into DPT or PTA learning activities create specific learning activities for the DPT student and the PTA student using the Scheets' MSA/D materials
