Sean Gallivan, PT, PhD, NCS, C/NDT, has 29 years of experience as a physical therapist, specializing in clinical care of clients with neurological conditions and the education of current and future physical therapists. Sean earned his BS in Education from the University of Dayton, Dayton, OH, in 1991; his MS in Physical Therapy from Duke University, Durham, NC, in 1994; and his PhD in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton in 2019.Sean is currently employed at the University of Dayton's Department of Physical Therapy, serving as its Director of Clinical Education, and instructing components of its general medicine, neurology, and advanced neurology curricula. Sean continues inpatient rehab clinical care at the Rehabilitation Insititute of Ohio and outpatient care at Miami Valley Hospital, most commonly caring for patients who have experienced brain injury, cerebral vascular accident, or spinal cord injury.Sean has 15 years of experience using body-weight supported over-ground and treadmill training with bariatric and non-bariatric clients, training clinicians throughout the country in BWS therapy since 2009. Trained in 1997 in the neurodevelopmental treatment approach for adults with hemiplegia, Sean maintains his NDT certification. A Board Certified Neurological Clinical Specialist since 2008, Sean remains excited to combine his passions of clinical care and education in assisting patients, therapists, and future therapists.
